Spring
Spring comes to Annapolis Royal in small, welcome changes: magnolias opening along old streets, fresh colour in the Historic Gardens and longer evenings beside the Basin. Beyond town, the orchards of the Annapolis Valley begin to blossom, while the wetlands and woodland paths offer new reasons to be outdoors.
It is a season for an unhurried visit. Spend a morning among the gardens, follow the waterfront to Fort Anne, or make Saturday’s market part of your plans. Then return to Bailey House before a short walk along the waterfront to dinner.
Activities
Follow the flowers, take the longer path or set out with no particular destination. These are some of our favourite ways to spend a spring day.

Events
A concert at King’s Theatre, an exhibition at ARTSPLACE or a Saturday morning at the market can give a spring visit its shape. Browse what’s on while you’re here, then leave the rest of the day open for a walk, lunch in town or an afternoon among the gardens.

In the town
& valley
Spring follows its own timetable here. Each visit offers a slightly different picture, from the first magnolias to the fuller gardens of early June.
- The first flowersMagnolias and spring bulbs bring the earliest garden colour, followed by fruit blossom and lilacs.
- A garden in bloomRhododendrons and azaleas are a late-spring highlight, often carrying into early June.
- Saturday morningsThe market brings together local growers, bakers and makers, with an indoor home before the outdoor season returns.
- Time outsideBirdwatching, waterfront walks and a little time on the trails make room for the changing landscape.

Accommodations
Four guest rooms in a Georgian house beside the Annapolis Basin offer a comfortable place to begin and end the day. Breakfast is included, the old town is close by, and your guest room and en-suite bathroom are private.
Return from a day among the gardens or along the coast, settle into the parlour, then head out on foot for dinner. We are happy to help with a route, a restaurant or a suggestion for tomorrow.
Take a little of the town home.
A book for the journey, something made by a local artist, or a small find from an antiques shop: leave a little time to browse. Annapolis Royal rewards a stroll without a shopping list.
